We formed in 2019 and have a very active group. Our area covers Marquette County and serves the northern central parts of the U.P.

Originating from Finland, a holistic approach incorporating gentle movements synchronized with slow breathing.

Sat. June 21: Cedar Tree planting with Interfaith Water Stewards

This project will accomplish our goal of planting 1000 trees to help nature's natural transpiration (pure) water process.

Sat. July 12 10:30AM: Wilderness Walk: the hidden beauty of Echo Lake Nature Preserve

Includes high bluffs of exposed granite bedrock, a mixed deciduous and conifer forest, wetlands, creeks, rock ponds and Echo Lake itself.

Take Hwy 550 towards Big Bay and look for yellow signage on left side. We will meet and park @ Eagles Nest Rd.

Fri. August 1 6-8PM:  4th Annual Rock Painting for all ages as a part of Crafting in Community! 

Bring a rock with you or one will be provided. We will have all art supplies. Outside lawn of St. Pauls 201 E Ridge St. Inside is rain back up.

Sat. August 9 10AM: Wilderness Walk to Morgan Falls with lunch at Rippling River Resort!

Meeting at NTN South Trailhead along County Road 553, will depart trail at 10:15 sharp.

Sun. - Tues. August 17-19: U.P. Wild Leaders Retreat for supporting, training & nurturing leadership for U.P. Wild branches, Fortune Lake Camp in Crystal Falls, MI

Sat. Sept. 27 10:30AM: Wild Walk with North Country Trail "Hike Every Mile"

Hikers from across the area join forces to cover every mile of the Marquette Area Chapter’s 110-mile stretch of the North Country Trail, all in a single day.

We will cover Segment 20.  For our wild churchers requesting a super WILD hike this 6.2 mile unblazed trail is your chance!  Contact hike leader Rachel (rachel.chase2010@gmail.com) if attending for the specific meeting location.

Sun. Sept. 28 3:30PM: Wild Church Service @ Presque Isle Gazebo, Marquette.  We will make Nature Journals! Journals, stickers and guidance are provided.

Fri. Oct. 3 6-8PM: Crafting in Community's support local arts event will take place at Hotplate Pottery & Clayworks.

Meet @ 130 W. Washington lower level in Marquette. You can bring your own project or support Hotplate by picking one of their designs.

Note: This is a special one time location for October

Sat. Oct. 11 10:30AM: Wilderness Walk to Saux Head Old Growth Forest with Regional Director Nick S. from the Old Growth Forest Network.

He will share his knowledge about old growth forests. Come find a 300 yr. old elder tree with us!  Meeting at NTN Trail Head in Powell Township:

From Marquette, drive north on County Road 550, turn right on Saux Head Lake Road, then left on County Road KB. Go past the 1st NTN parking lot, pass cottages and the 2nd NTN parking lot will be on the left— look for the yellow wild church signs.

New location is Velodrome Coffee, 1125 N Third St. Marquette.

Sat. Oct. 18 10AM: This is our 3rd year supporting "Walk for the Wild" at Seney National Wildlife Refuge. Walk begins at 10AM in Seney, MI.  Meeting spot is Lofaro's Fresh Market for those attending from Marquette.  RSVP is required as car pools are based on interest.  Message info@upwild.org

Sun. Oct. 26 3:30PM: Wild Church Service & Social

Come for an afternoon of fellowship. Experience a Wild Church Service and socialize with others who find their spirituality within nature. Our social is a chance to meet the broad variety of people within our little community.  Optional to bring a snack to pass. Pavilion is rented from 3:30-5PM.

Bring a project, share a project or just lay on the floor.  DIY makers space.

Candles, twinkle lights and mellow music for a calming atmosphere.

Our Fall/Winter Wilderness Walks will be coordinated via our point leader, Rachel C.

During the winter season, those interested in hiking/snowshoeing/ect will coordinate the times and locations within this wild group.
