Rapid River Nature Prayer Service / Sunday Jan. 23 2022@ 3:00PM

We will be gathering around the bonfire with reflections and poems revolved around the theme of: winter as a time of silence, solitude, and contemplation.

We will have time for a short walk in nature, collectively offer up any prayers on our hearts, and enjoy a hot cup of tea by the fire.

All are welcome, please invite a friend. Feel free to bring a drum or a rattle, a folding chair to sit on, and a mug for tea.

Come experience a little bit of UP Wild as we will also be envisioning what we’d like to do in the spring and summer in Delta County.

2022 Events will include:

+ wilderness walks in new locations

+ nature prayer service every last Sunday per month

+ kids outdoor activities

+ bonfire discussions

Dates will be posted soon!

GET TO KNOW US: BONFIRE!

SAT. NOVEMBER 13 / 2:00PM /  IN PERSON

If you are in the area and curious about U.P. Wild... if you like marshmallows roasted by the fire... come share your story and hear those within the community share why they attend.  If our vision is to is raise the next generation with a deep love of place and to do this as a part of their faith life, we need your input and vision too.  Very laid back, introverts welcome. Location in Marquette County.

NATURE PRAYER SERVICE

SUN. NOVEMBER 28 / 4:00PM / IN PERSON

A collaborative prayer circle with children welcome.  The teaching goes, "Blessed be the peacemakers" not "Blessed be the consumers" so let's not indulge the big box shopping culture but instead gather in the light!  A time to give our thanks for the meager & momentous blessings in our lives- we encourage children to especially share what they are thankful for! They can make a colorful picture, tell a story, show and tell- and adults, it's good for us to share too.  Gatherings are at Presque Isle Gazebo in Marquette.  Cancellation only in dangerous conditions.

REMEMBERING OUR FRIENDS

SAT. DECEMBER 4 / 12:00-1:00PM / IN PERSON

Adopt an endangered animal to pray for through Advent. We will have 15 animals to choose from first come basis. We are providing packets on the animal and how to pray through the New Year. $5 donation per packet.  Wonderful activity for families.  Our community has also made wooden crosses to put up along some streets in the Upper Peninsula- in remembrance of the lost creatures and those animal friends (our fellows) that have gone extinct. In remembering, we will also focus on the hope in our ability to save those on the critically endangered list.  This is a powerful activity to do together for Advent. Stop by the Lions Club Room at Peter White  Library to write a name on a cross or pick up an adoption packet.

INTO THE WILDERNESS : A GUIDED HIKE ENTERING INTO CHRISTMAS

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 18 10AM /  IN PERSON BY REGISTRATION ONLY

Following in the footsteps of Jesus, we will be offering a guided hike into a very special and hidden old growth wilderness location to seek solitude with Christ prior to Christmas.  Due to a limited number of spots, RSVP is required along with $40 (sliding scale; can be paid day of hike or through our website donation button).  This is an opportunity to walk into the heart of the wilderness and within ourselves as we prepare for Christmas and the New Year.  Deep snow hike for Intermediate/Advanced, 16+.

What to expect: group prayer & reflection along with solitary time in nature.
