LOST CITY NATURE WALK

SAT. SEPT. 26 / 11:30 AM / IN PERSON

Our popular hike will happen again! We will begin & end our hike with a short reflection or prayer as we take a short walk through "Old Towne" Negaunee. We will climb staircases that lead to non-existing homes and see how nature has reclaimed this space. For many of us who grew up  around the U.P. this may be actually be your first time going into the caving grounds- so come learn some local history! We must adhere to safety guidelines so all participants must pre-register by sending an email to lanni@upwild.org. You will also be given instructions on where to gather. IF RAIN cancellation: take the virtual walk found here.

LIVE FROM THE LAKE

TUESDAY OCTOBER 13 / 7:00-7:30PM / FBOOK LIVE

A part of Northern Michigan University's Climate Awareness Week, we will sit (virtually) on the shores of Superior at Little Presque Isle with the  Huron Mountains, Garlic Point & Granite Loma in the distance.  We will open with quiet meditation (to hear the sounds of the great lake) and hear the voices of the Northern Great Lakes Water Stewards; a faith-based voice which monitors, protects and santifies the lakes and rivers of the U.P.  * We will be offering this again IN PERSON based on interest- if you would attend a prayer gathering at this location, message lanni@upwild.org.

FALL COLORS HIKE

SAT. OCTOBER / 11:30 AM / IN PERSON

LEAFERS UNITE!  People travel from afar to witness the beauty of the changing of seasons in the Upper Peninsula- we get an insiders view of the majestic Huron Mountains with a guided hike and some meditative stops to enjoy the beauty and wonder of God's creation. Intermediate level hike with some hill climbing involved. We must adhere to safety guidelines so all participants must pre-register by sending an email to lanni@upwild.org. Location on where to meet will also be given once registered- it will be off Highway 550 towards Big Bay.

CENTERING PRAYER

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23 /  6:30PM ZOOM + FACEBOOK LIVE

A time set apart for community and centering prayer. Hosted by U.P. Wild and guided by Gabriela (Rise, Philadelphia) and Lanni (U.P. Wild, Michigan). Centering prayer is a Christian practice or discipline, that goes as far back as our Desert Mothers & Fathers. It’s also called Contemplative prayer, or Christian Meditation.  We will meet on Zoom while also going LIVE on facebook. Please email lanni@upwild.org to register for Zoom link to join us "in the room".

LIVE 'FROM DA WOODS'

FRI, OCTOBER 30 / 6:30PM / ZOOM + FACEBOOK LIVE

All Hallows' Eve falls on 31st October each year, and is the day before All Hallows' Day, also known as All Saints' Day in the Christian calendar. The name derives from the Old English 'hallowed' meaning holy or sanctified and is now usually contracted to the more familiar word Halloween. WE WILL broadcast LIVE from da woods sharing some forgotten history and asking YOU to bring your favorite Saint to share and hear about some holy pilgrims to inspire us on our journey. In order to share "in person" face-to-face email lanni@upwild.org for the Zoom link.

MACKINAC ISLAND TOUR

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6 / 6PM  / YOUTUBE LIVE

Virtually, we will take a scenic and uniquely one-of-a-kind stroll on Mackinac Island (no cars allowed!). We may have some special friends join us along the road to share some wisdom. This is your chance to take the ferry across the Straits of Mackinac (Michigan) and go back in time (anyone know the movie reference?!) without having to actually take a ferry over.  This is a virtual online event and UP Wild members will be on LIVE with you to share comments and community.

CRISP AIR NATURE WALK

SAT. NOVEMBER 14 / 11:30 AM / IN PERSON

We will venture into a new area of the wild wilderness in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, for a brief yet brisk nature walk and meditation. Hopefully snow shoes won’t yet be required. We will be guided by experienced hiker, Erica Thomas. Location is Morgan Falls but pre-registration will be required by sending an email to lanni@upwild.org.

CENTERING PRAYER

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20 / 6:30PM / ZOOM + FACEBOOK LIVE

A time set apart for community and centering prayer. Hosted by U.P. Wild and guided by Gabriela (Rise, Philadelphia) and Lanni (U.P. Wild, Michigan). We will meet on zoom while also going LIVE on facebook. Please email lanni@upwild.org to register for Zoom link.

THANKSGIVING CIRCLE

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27 / 11:30AM / ZOOM

A collaborative prayer circle with children welcome.  The teaching goes, "Blessed be the Peacemakers" not "Blessed be the consumers" so let's not indulge the Black Friday mob but instead gather in the light!  A time to give our thanks for the meager & momentous blessings in our lives- we encourage children to especially share what they are thankful for! They can make a colorful picture, tell a story, show and tell- anything to get them excited and engaged! Circle will gather on zoom so please EMAIL lanni@upwild.org FOR LINK.

VIRTUAL PARK STROLL

FRIDAY,  DECEMBER 4 / 7:00 PM / YOUTUBE LIVE

Sip some tea and take a virtual nature walk through Park Cemetery located in Marquette, Michigan.  An historic and protected area for over 100 years, the trees bear that witness as some of the largest left within the city limits.  We will respectively walk through the narrow streets, saying hello to the ducks, and praying for our ancestors along the way.  *If you have a story to share about Park Cemetery to include in the video, email lanni@upwild.org by Dec. 2nd.

IN PERSON PARK STROLL

SAT. DECEMBER 12 / 1:00 PM / IN PERSON

A sanctuary of tranquility inside the city limits of Marquette, Park Cemetery is a favorite place to take a stroll among locals. Many know the ducks & ponds but less known are the hiking trails and community garden inside.  We will explore it all on a 1 hour nature walk which includes meditative stops to offer a reflection, share a story, and offer prayers for our ancestors. We will be prepared for snow and dress accordingly. Safety guidelines will also be followed so we ask everyone to register & numbers will be limited- by emailing lanni@upwild.org for exact meeting location.

MEET & GREET!

SAT. DECEMBER 19 / 2:00 PM / Zoom

This is not an ugly sweater party (unless you want it to be!) but still a chance to mingle with one another. If you have watched an online service, attended in person, or are simply curious about who we are- this is a chance for us to "meet" each other via Zoom. It's important to continue to build relationships and create community during these times of isolation so instead of offering a service this week, we would like to focus on getting to know each other more.

Put your favorite Christmas/Holiday decoration in the background, bake some gingerbread cookies (and tell us how good they are...), bring a peppermint tea or spiced coconut latte and meet other like-minded people. Email lanni@upwild.org for link.

CENTERING PRAYER

DEC 23 8PM & JAN 2 10AM / ZOOM + FACEBOOK LIVE

A time of stillness holding true to the Holiday Spirit.  Our culture has created a time of busyness and chaos surrounding what was and still is, a very sacred time of year.  We will center ourselves into Christmas and the New Year (for this Zoom you will be asked to bring a stone & index card/markers). Circle will gather on Zoom so please EMAIL lanni@upwild.org for special link.

A TIME TO BE...

TOGETHER IN COMMUNITY

WANT TO BE MORE INVOLVED?

Wild Church is evolving out of a need originally expressed by many young adults in the MQT area and is now clear all ages are wanting to be involved.  The desire to experience an aunthentic Christian community outside the walls of church and open to all.
